District 3's NJROTC program earning big accomplishments and awards from the state

Landen Lenn is a champ in and outside the classroom. The Venetucci first grader recently took first place at the North South Dual Championship for wrestling. This is his third time placing first in a wrestling tournament. Landen and his older brother Kayden love to wrestle at home, and both practice on each other during the off-season. Landen loves P.E. because he likes to be active. His dream is to become a professional wrestler or Batman.
The Mesa Ridge High School Jazz Ensemble received #1 ratings from all judges at the Mile High Jazz Competition. The high school competed against 54 bands around the state. The MRHS Jazz Ensemble also received commendations for Outstanding Trombone Section, Sax Section, and Trumpet played by Dustin Seagren.
Kaylah Henre is a senior and three-sport athlete at Widefield High School. She plays soccer, softball and swims. Kaylah is a LifeSkills student who has been in the district since kindergarten. She has shown tremendous growth over the years by never giving up and being persistent both in and outside of the classroom. Kaylah spends two days a week through the Transition Program as an assistant in the LifeSkills classroom at Sunrise Elementary. She attributes her success to district staff members who helped her along the way. So it is no surprise that Kaylah’s dream is to become a LifeSkills teacher at Sunrise Elementary.
Thanks to a Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) grant, the district will now offer PLTW - Project Lead The Way, the nation's leading STEM program. These new courses are available to current 6th grade students, and will be offered to all junior high and high school students next school year.
