The Widefield School District 3 (WSD3) Music Department offers award-winning music programs in all K-12 schools. General music education is offered in our elementary schools and the following are offered in our junior high and high schools:

Awards & Recognitions

2024-2025 High Notes 

  • Widefield High School Finished 14th in the Colorado Band Masters 4a state competition.
  • Mesa Ridge High School finished 10th in the Colorado Band Masters 4a State competition. 
  • Janitell Junior High Mixed choir was selected to sing the national anthem at the 2024 CASBE Conference in December at the Broadmoor. 
  • Watson Junior High School has 2 students selected for the Pikes Peak Middle School Honor Jazz band. Janitell Junior High has one student selected. 

2023-2024 High Notes

  • Janitell Junior High School Select Choir and the Widefield High School Orchestra will take center stage at the prestigious Colorado Music Educator Association Convention in January at The Broadmoor
  • The Mesa Ridge High School Classic Choral group  have been chosen to sing the national anthem at the 2023 CASBE convention.
  • The Pride of Mesa Ridge marching band achieved an impressive 8th place in the state at the Colorado Bandmasters Association (CBA) competition

  • The Widefield Gladiator marching band claimed the 14th spot in the CBA competition.

  • Ten talented students from Mesa Ridge and Widefield high schools were accepted into the 2024 SWACDA (Southwestern American Choral Directors Association) honor choir.


2022-2023 High Notes

  • 7 students from Mesa Ridge High School (MRHS) and Widefield High School (WHS)  in All State Choir 
  • 27 students in Adams State Honor Choir 
  • 5 students in All State Orchestra 
  • 11 students in All State Middle School Choir 
  • 5 students in the Pikes Peak Middle School Honor Band
  • The Pride of Mesa Ridge band took 7th overall in the 4A State Championship
  • Widefield High School Marching Gladiators took 13th overall in the 4A State Championship
  • MRHS Winter Guard second year 4A State Champions 
  • MRHS Winter percussion placed in the Rocky Mountain Percussion Association competition
  • WHS Women's Varsity Choir performed at the Colorado Music Educators Association
  • WHS Orchestra performed at American String Teachers Association National convention 
  • Elementary schools participated in inHarmony Festival hosted by the Colorado Springs Children's Chorale
