Two premier student ensembles from Widefield School District 3 have earned the distinct honor of performing at the Colorado Music Educator Association (CMEA) Clinic/Conference. This annual event, held at the historic Broadmoor Hotel, showcases the top musical talent from across the state.

To be selected for a CMEA performance, ensembles must undergo a rigorous blind audition process, competing against schools from every corner of Colorado. The invitation serves as a testament to the dedication of the students and the excellence of the music programs at Grand Mountain and Janitell.

The community is invited to celebrate these students during their featured sets:

  • The Janitell Jazz Cats: Led by Director Alfredo Molina-Nogal, the Jazz Cats will take the stage on Friday at 9:00 AM. Known for their vibrant energy and technical skill, the group represents the high standard of jazz education in the district.

  • The Grand Mountain School Girls Choir: Under the direction of Carlos Gonzalez, the choir will perform on Saturday at 10:30 AM. Their selection highlights the vocal precision and artistry fostered within the Grand Mountain music department.

The CMEA conference is the largest professional development gathering for music educators in the state. Performing here is widely considered one of the highest accolades a school ensemble can achieve in Colorado.
