Autumn R., a senior at Widefield High School, is turning her passion for storytelling into a powerful platform. Recently accepted into the Youth Documentary Academy, Autumn was one of only 12 students chosen from a highly competitive pool to participate in the 10-week program. Her journey began in elementary school, inspired by a YouTuber who used simple tools like iMovie and a camera—prompting Autumn to start filming with her dad’s old work phone. Since then, she’s grown her skills through years of experience on school news teams, beginning in 7th grade at Sproul Junior High and continuing today at Widefield’s KWHS News. Known for her weekly “The Reel Deel” segment, Autumn blends humor, creativity, and heart into every broadcast—most recently organizing a talent show and even tap dancing - winning second place. Through WSD3’s video news classes, she’s discovered the freedom to develop her voice and technical skills, building a foundation for a future in filmmaking. Autumn dreams of being known for her work—of seeing her name in lights as a celebrated creator whose art leaves a mark.
