Widefield School District 3 (WSD3) has received a $111,000 grant from Disabling Barriers to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). The grant will be used to create an inclusive playground at Pinello Elementary which will allow children of all ages and abilities, including those with disabilities, to enjoy.
“We are creating opportunities for our students with disabilities to play and interact with our neurotypical students. This will be a resource for the entire community to utilize to make more inclusive opportunities for children and families,” said Jaimie Hunsicker, WSD3 Occupational Therapist.
The grant supports inclusive practices to support the diverse needs of our students in WSD3. Inclusive playgrounds allow students to develop motor, social, cognitive and emotional skills for students of all ability levels.
