Safety & Security
Our Commitment to Safety
Student, staff, and visitor safety is essential in Widefield School District 3 (WSD3). Our goal is to provide safe, welcoming learning environments for every child, every classroom, every day.
WSD3's Safety & Security Department leads district-wide emergency planning, training, and daily operations of our schools and buildings - —working closely with local law enforcement, fire departments, and first responders. From visitor management to emergency drills, safety is built into everything we do.

-
Routine Standard Response Protocol (SRP) drills to practice lockdowns, fire drills, shelter-in-place, and holds
-
Extensive training for armed safety and security staff on how to manage crisis situations in schools
Why Safety & Security Matters
Safety and security are the foundation of learning. When students and staff feel safe, they can focus on education, creativity, and connection. We take a proactive approach to ensuring anybody who enters our schools can do so with confidence and peace of mind.
Our Safety & Security team works every day to:
- Prevent incidents through awareness, planning, and training
- Prepare staff and students for any type of emergency through drills and education
- Respond effectively alongside first responders when emergencies occur
- Recover quickly to restore normal operations and provide support for those affected
Safety in WSD3 is a shared responsibility—between our staff, students, families, and community partners. Together, we create secure environments where every child can Learn, Grow, and Achieve.
