Elementary

Coding in Action

Coding in Action (CIA) is a WSD3 club-based program and competition that serves grades 3-5.

Students collaborate together in this club to learn programming languages, such as Blockly language, C++, and Python, and apply them at the competition.

In coding club, students experience computer programming and physical computing using programs such as Code.org, Scratch.mit.edu, drones, Spheros, and Arduino boards.

FIRST LEGO League

FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) mission is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders and innovators, by engaging them in mentor-based programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills, and foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.

All our elementary and secondary teams in WSD3 compete in three levels of STEM groups including: FIRST LEGO League, Jr., FIRST LEGO League, and First Robotics Competition. WSD3 hosts many of these events for school districts in the state.

Secondary

VEX VRC Robotics

VEX VRC uses educational robots to teach students programming, sensors, and automation as well as encourages creativity, teamwork, leadership, passion, and problem-solving among groups.

All our secondary schools compete in monthly events that are open to the public and qualify teams for the Colorado state championship and, ultimately, VEX Worlds.

Aerial Drone Competition

The Aerial Drone Competition offers is an educational drone sporting event that focuses on hands-on, student-centered learning.

Teams learn about drones, flight principles, programming, documentation and communication skills while expanding their understanding and building interest for Drone-related workforce and career opportunities.
