Junior High Robotics Students Bridge the Gap for Shared Success

SECURITY-WIDEFIELD, CO - The future of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) is actively being built within Widefield School District 3 (WSD3), thanks to a new initiative: the Secondary Robotics Collaboration Day.

This program brings together the dedicated robotics and drone teams from Janitell Junior High School and Grand Mountain Junior High School for intensive, half-day sessions focused entirely on knowledge exchange and teamwork.

The teams have committed to continuously meet throughout the school year.

The Power of Working Together

The core goal of these in-person events is to provide students with a unique environment where they can learn outside of their own school. By working directly with peers from a neighboring school, students gain invaluable exposure to:

  • Diverse Environments: Experiencing different practice spaces and methods.
  • Knowledge Exchange: Sharing specific tips, tricks, and solutions for technical challenges.
  • Essential Skills: Honing crucial communication and collaboration abilities vital for any STEM career.

"Our robotics students are working incredibly hard, and this collaboration day exposes them not just to advanced technical skills, but to the collaborative nature of the real-world STEM field," said Janitell’s Robotics Coach Carpio. "Seeing the students teach and learn from one another has been inspiring."

These joint sessions reinforce the district's commitment to hands-on learning, ensuring WSD3 students are building a strong foundation for future success in competitive robotics and beyond.
