WHS senior accepted into Army Band
Widefield High School (WHS) Class of 2021 Senior Devin Brown has been accepted into the 101st Army Band of the Colorado National Guard. Colorado's only Army band, the 101st, features patriotic, jazz, popular, country, classical, rock, and Dixieland music. The mission of the 101st is to provide music and musical entertainment on behalf of the State of Colorado and the United States Army.
A trumpet player, Devin has studied privately with Steve Kinderman, a 20-year veteran musician of the Air Force. He began playing trumpet in 4th Grade, with Mr. Jon Faires at Widefield Elementary. While enrolled at WHS, he has participated in Marching Band, Jazz Band, Wind Symphony, and Pep Band, and has also qualified for the Colorado Springs All-City Jazz Band and the Festival of Winds at CSU Pueblo.
