Nawras Al Lami is doctoring up his medical studies with a special trip to Vietnam. The Widefield high school junior is planning on traveling to the country next summer for two weeks to participate in a honors program through FutureDocs Abroad.

"I get to see how a doctor's life is on a day to day basis. I also get to be in an operating room with a live surgery happening, and I also get to take a full anatomy course," said Al Lami.

Al Lami has been interested in the medical field since he was a child and that interest grew after taking biology and science classes his freshman year.

"It's actually really interesting especially when it comes to experiments and trying to find new things," he said.

Al Lami is currently taking biomedical science classes in the Project Lead The Way program at his school including Principles of Biomedical Sciences, Human Body Systems, and Human Physiology.

"I love the idea that anyone who wants to join the medical field, like biomedical sciences, there are courses for them to take here where they can go through a pathway and slightly learn more and more about the human body, sciences, and the medical field," said Al Lami.

Al Lami's dream is to become a doctor, surgeon, or a biomedical engineer.

"I want to be the one in the position to help people, make people's lives better, find better vaccines, medicines, and maybe even cure a very renowned disease," he said.
