College and Career Readiness

  • Junior College Day - March 5th. 

    Presentation for Juniors: 10am in auditorium. 

    There will be speakers on the admissions process, financial aid and scholarships, and on essay writing.

    Mini-College Fair: 11:17 - 11:50 In the auditorium lobby. Admission reps from 15 colleges will be here to talk with juniors about their colleges. 

    *Juniors must have a 2.0 gpa or above and sign up to attend.

    Financial Aid

     

    *FAFSA (FREE APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL STUDENT AID)

    Go to fafsa.gov.edu to apply. This qualifies students for Pell Grants, Student Loans, and other forms of financial aid. Many schools and scholarships will require FAFSA.

     

    *College Opportunity Fund: FREE money for Colorado residents going to       college in Colorado go to cof.college-assist.org

     

      

     

    College Admission Representatives at Mesa Ridge

    February 21 University of Northern College. Admisson Rep will be here to meet with all students admitted to UNC.

    February 22 Adams State. Admission Rep will be here to meet with all seniors who have been admitted to Adams St.

    Scholarships

    *Fountain Valley Scholars in now open and due Feb. 3rd. There are 8 scholarships reserved for Mesa Ridge students with a 3.0 gpa! Go to fountainvalleyscholars.wordpress.com

     

    *Widefield Elementary, Pinello Elementary, and King Elementary all have scholarships for students who attended those elementary schools. Pick up an application from the counseling center. 

    April 1st is the deadline to return these completed applications.

     

    If you are being offered scholarships, whether or not you will accept them, come see Mr. Burgess and tell him FIRST.

    Transcript Requests

    *Mid year transcripts can be sent starting January 10th. Email Mr. Burgess if any of your colleges need them.

    As students begin applying to colleges they will need transcripts sent electronically from MRHS. In order for transcripts to be sent please list the college as one you are interested in and that you are applying to in Naviance. Once you indicate that you are applying to a school in Naviance there will be a prompt to request transcripts. If you are applying through Common App please notify Mr. Burgess.

     

    Athletes

    If you are planning to compete in athletics at the collegiate level you must register with the NCAA or NAIA in order to determine your eligibility. This can be done as soon as your sophomore year. 

    *Look at the courses required by the NCAA. You can also see the critieria for eligibility for all NCAA Divisions.
