Where children think, learn, and grow!!

    Dear Families,

Welcome to Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School!  We are committed to providing the best possible education to the children of this community. King Elementary is full of outstanding staff members that are dedicated to providing a quality education for every child, in every classroom, every day.  The teachers devote numerous hours over the summer and throughout the school year to professional development to best meet the needs of your children.

We are committed to working in partnership with our King families. We try our best to communicate with families through multiple means. Please look forward to invites throughout the school year.  Our family nights are one way we reach out to promote our programs, have fun with math/reading/STEM, and bring knowledge to you as a parent. Also, we communicate using Class Dojo, a communication app.  You will be able to track your student’s daily behavior and receive instant messages from your child’s teacher. Please remember to visit our website king.wsd3.org- we keep it updated for your convenience.  Lastly, we encourage our families to work closely with the school and classroom teachers through continuous communication and support in the classroom as needed. We welcome all parents to become a part of our team.

King Elementary celebrates students and their different strengths and interests. We offer several after school activities for students in 1st through 5th grade.  Some of these activities are: Lego Club, Bike Club, Intramural sports, Student Council, Coding Club, Robotics, etc.  There are several district and city level competitions.

This year, we are taking a new journey into project based and personalized learning for our fourth and fifth grade students. This new approach will focus on cognitive skills, content knowledge, habits of success and sense of purpose.  We are excited to create an environment that is utilizing one to one computers to help our students meet benchmark standards and continue to grow in their education and 21st century skills.

King Elementary believes in developing well rounded and socially confident students. We look forward to your involvement in all aspects of King!
