    A Herff Jones representative will be in the lower commons during lunch next Friday, November 16, to take your class ring, announcement and cap & gown orders!     Pikes Peak Community College will be at WHS on Tuesday, December 4 for Application Day! This is only for Seniors who are interested in attending PPCC in the fall. Be sure to sign up for your appointment in the counseling center before November 30!

      


     

    Attention Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors!!

     
    Here's your opportunity to explore career possibilities! Widefield High School is proud to present THE TOUR OF THE MiLL on Tuesday, December 11th. This tour will introduce you to the MiLL (Manufacturing Industry Learning Lab) where our students can take part in programs such as Woods Manufacturing, Cabinet Finishing, and Construction. This year the students from Widefield School District #3 will be building a house. This is an opportunity for students to learn a trade and become employable.
     
    This tour will take place on Tuesday, December 11th from 10:00am to 11:30am. This tour is available to interested 9th, 10th and 11th graders. If you are already taking classes at the MiLL you cannot attend. There is a limited number of seats and you must sign up and turn in a permission slip in the counseling center BEFORE December 4th. 
     

     

    Girls Lead the Way leadership conference hosted by the Society of Women Engineers collegiate and professional sections at Colorado School of Mines!

    During the conference, high school girls will interact with current Mines students and faculty in three, hour-long engineering and/or applied math and sciences activities designed to engage students with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) majors at Mines. The event also includes a majors panel, where the girls will hear highlights of each major from department representatives, a parents/guardians’ information session hosted by Mines Undergraduate Admissions (optional), and a campus tour (optional).

    This year’s theme is "Boldly Go Where No Woman Has Gone Before,” which reflects the conference’s goal of empowering young women with the knowledge that they are capable of pursing and thriving in STEM education and careers.

    The Manufacturing Industry Learning Lab (MiLL) is located in Widefield School District 3 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The MiLL houses a woods manufacturing, cabinet finishing, and construction program for high school students. It utilizes the CTE Woods Manufacturing Curriculum. This curriculum was developed by Dean Mattson (WMIA Education Award 2013) and formalized in conjunction with the Peyton School District.     Colorado Council on High School/College Relations Volunteerism/Community Service Scholarship:
    The Colorado Council Volunteerism/Community Service Scholarship application is now available online. To encourage and reward college-bound youth who likewise are committed to volunteerism and community service, the Council awards $1,500 one-time scholarships to 14 deserving Colorado high school seniors each year to assist with defraying the cost of tuition and fees at one of the Member Institutions.
