Ms. Claudene Little
A Texan through and through, born and bred, but happily transplanted for 15 years to the beautiful West and the mountains of Colorado!
I have loved the West and the Northwest since I traveled through with my parents as a 5-year-old. My teaching career has taken me from my first position in a small town in East Texas to Faculty Member, Teacher Educator, and Department Chair at Northwest Nazarene College near the mountains of Boise, Idaho. I then moved back to Texas, where I taught teen parents in a unique alternative school. My 15 years in Colorado have included teaching for 8 years at Widefield High School, and 3 at Mesa Ridge High School where I now teach 5 sections of Food Skills and Catering, an introductory course to culinary skills and careers in the food industry.
Finding the field of Family and Consumer Sciences (formerly Home Economics) during my sophomore year in college, I chose it as my profession and have loved every aspect involved. It has been said that "people can make it through life when everything falls apart if they have a strong family, but if family falls apart, it is much harder to make it through life's tough times." Though we teach in six major areas of content and train students for careers in each, the central focus of Family and Consumer Sciences is always the health and strength of the family. May it ever be so, for the good of us all!
