Bus Driver Saves Students
The board of education recognized District 3 bus driver Ronda Carey for her heroic efforts on the school bus. Ronda has worked for District 3 for 15 years. She also drives a bus for The Fountain Valley Schools in the evenings. On November 10, Ronda was driving for Fountain Valley Schools to drop students off in Pueblo. While in route she smelled something unusual and decided to evacuate the seven students on the bus. Shortly after evacuating the bus caught on fire. Ronda says her training in District 3 prepared her for the evacuation. Each year the district transportation department hosts two evacuation trainings that Ronda credits for keeping her calm and knowing what to do in an emergency.
