Widefield School District 3 (WSD3) provides K-12 public education in a safe learning environment. WSD3's vibrant community is tucked away in the southeast side of Colorado Springs and is often referred to "a small town in a big city."
WSD3 manages Widefield Parks and Recreation that provides education and recreation activities for students, staff, and families. Located inside Parks and Recreation is the Security Public Library, which provides year round reading programs, activities, and events for the community.
Security/Widefield is the largest unincorporated area in Colorado. District 3 takes on many of the functions which are normally performed by municipal governments. The district is governed by a five-member Board of Education, members of which are elected on an at-large basis for four-year terms.
