Survey Results

In January 2026, we invited our families, community members, and students in grades 6–12 to share their perspectives through our annual district survey.

Your feedback is vital to our growth; these insights will directly inform strategic planning at both the school and district levels. We have carefully reviewed all open-ended responses to identify the core themes that matter most to you.

Moving forward, we will conduct this survey annually to track our progress and ensure we are continuously improving for our students. We will continue to update this page and create dashboards for comparison each year.

Overall feedback: The feedback reflects a district that is generally well-regarded (74% approval rate) and feels safe to the majority of respondents.

Community and "Small Town Feel": Families value the district’s tight-knit, inclusive atmosphere and signature community events like the district parade.
Strong Communication: Parents appreciate the consistent use of platforms like Parent Square and Infinite Campus to stay informed about school and district news.
Caring Relationships: Staff members are frequently praised for being loving, supportive, and dedicated to building positive connections with their students.
Diverse Opportunities: The district is highly regarded for its wide range of programs, including the arts, athletics, STEM, and vocational training at The Mill.
Safety and Inclusion: Parents feel the district provides a safe, welcoming environment that respects student diversity and offers alternative learning paths.

How We Can Improve

Life Skills Career Preparation: Teach students how to handle money, taxes, and basic adult tasks. Give vocational trades the same priority and resources as college paths.
Security & Safety Infrastructure: While 93% of parents feel "Very" or "Somewhat" safe, the community (non-parents) is slightly more skeptical. Evaluate physical upgrades like metal detectors at secondary schools and focus on proactive bullying prevention to protect student well-being.
Streamlining Communication & Technology: The survey revealed "platform fatigue" among parents. Too many different apps used at the classroom level. While district-level communication is praised, parents are looking for more consistent and timely feedback from individual teachers and principals.
Specialized Support & Individualized Learning: Ensure students in Gifted & Talented (GT)/ALP programs receive active, face-to-face mentorship and goal-setting rather than just digital plan updates.

Overall feedback: The general sentiment among students is positive, particularly regarding safety and teacher-led communication.

Safety: 95% of students report feeling safe at school, with 40% feeling "very safe."
Communication: Students highly value direct communication. 79% rate teacher communication as "Good" or "Really Good." District-level communication is also well-regarded (65% positive).
Future Readiness: 58% of students feel the district is preparing them "Pretty Well" or "Very Well" for life after high school.

Strong Teacher-Student Connections: Students feel most comfortable getting information and support directly from their teachers. Interactive learning, demonstrations, and individual help in labs were frequently cited as the most effective teaching methods.
Technology Proficiency: Students are highly confident with technology; 77% report high comfort levels (4 or 5 out of 5) using school-provided devices.
Classroom Transparency: Students appreciate when teachers use online platforms to post calendars, assignments, and lesson goals, which helps them stay organized and catch up after absences.
Clubs and Activities: A significant portion of the student body feels that existing clubs provide good opportunities for involvement and voice.

Where Can We Improve?

Principal and Leadership Communication: While teacher communication is strong, only 48% of students rated principal communication as "Good" or "Really Good," with 41% rating it as just "Okay."
Student Voice and Agency: A recurring theme is the desire for more authentic "voice." Students suggested more student-led announcements, suggestion boxes, and genuine inclusion in decision-making processes.
Environmental Safety Concerns: While students feel safe from external threats, they expressed concerns regarding "blind spots" in hallways and bathrooms, specifically mentioning issues like vaping and peer-to-peer conflicts.
Practical Career Preparation: While academic prep is noted, students are looking for more "real-world" skills. About 40% of students remain neutral or unsure if they are being taught the specific skills needed for the workforce.
